Warehouse
219 Annandale St, Annandale
The brief was to convert a steel-framed warehouse
situated at the rear of a disused fire station into a residence. The
approach was to retain the simple large, non-cluttered nature of a warehouse
while incorporating the traditional needs of a residence.
The vast scale of the structure called for
a simple and direct design approach. The single space was divided into
formal & informal living, dining, kitchen, study, 3 bedrooms, double
garage and workshop.
Joinery was used in the form of screens and
dividers to the open plan living spaces. The insertion of blade walls
and the use of bold colour breaks down the scale of the spaces, while
retaining the spacious open ambiance of a warehouse.
