Terrace - John St Woollahra

Being in 'original ' condition, this John Street terrace renovation needed to start from scratch. Without any past renovations to consider, the approach was allowed more freedom. After a number of designs and Council negotiations, a three bedroom house with a rear lane studio garage was achieved.

The staircase, inserted across the property between the old house and the new extension, was used as a dividing element and light-well in the center of the house. Sun is thus allowed to penetrate deep into terrace formerly unaccustomed to light.

As in other projects, joinery was used to rationalize space by amalgamating Kitchen and Laundry functions in a more open flowing space which links, via the Dining area, to the Courtyard.
